Watching a live perspective in real time is powerful, but communicating with the person behind the lens makes it extraordinary. Today, we are rolling out In-Stream Live Chat across CamRequest, bringing instant, two-way text communication directly inside every active video session.
Whether you are requesting a specific viewpoint across town, asking a streamer to zoom in on a landmark or coordinating during a 1-on-1 private session, you can now chat seamlessly with ultra-low latency.
Built on Ultra-Fast Data Channels
Instead of routing messages through heavy external databases that cause sluggish delays, CamRequest’s new chat system runs directly over high-speed WebRTC data channels:
- Instantaneous Feedback: Messages travel alongside the live video feed with sub-second delivery. When you ask a streamer to pan left or check a detail, they see it in real time.
- Unified Web & App Experience: Viewers watching from a desktop or mobile browser can chat freely with streamers broadcasting from the native Android app and vice versa.
- Non-Intrusive HUD: The lightweight chat interface is overlaid neatly onto the stream, giving viewers and streamers a clean, clear visual field without blocking the action.
Ephemeral & Privacy-Focused
In line with our core privacy standards, in-stream messages are designed specifically for the moment:
- No Chat Logs Stored: Messages exist purely during the active session. Once the stream ends or the connection closes, the chat buffer is cleared automatically.
- Encrypted Stream Data: Every message packet is end-to-end encrypted across the active WebRTC room connection, keeping private conversations completely confidential.
How to Use It

Join or Start Any Stream: Launch a public broadcast or open a Private CamRequest session from your Android device or web browser.

Open the Chat Overlay: Tap or click the Chat icon in the stream controls.

Type & Direct in Real Time: Send quick messages, coordinate camera angles or say hello to the streamer with zero setup.

In-stream chat will be live across the platform and included by default in the final CamRequest app build.
